CONTINUED MOBILITY TECHNOLOGY
Michelin Zero Pressure (ZP), BFGoodrich brand Self Supporting Structure (SSS) and Uniroyal NailGard offer continued mobility technology for consumers looking for the peace-of-mind they will gain by knowing they won't be stranded on the side of a road with a flat tire.
Michelin Zero Pressure (ZP) tires and BFGoodrich brand Self Supporting Structure (SSS) tires incorporate a unique construction that, in the event of pressure loss, will allow the tire to operate with little or no air pressure for a limited time without causing non-repairable damage to the tire casing. In order to realize the benefits of the Michelin ZP and BFGoodrich brand SSS tires, the tires must be accompanied with an approved operational tire air pressure warning system. The length of time/mileage a tire will remain operational at low or no air pressure will depend on a variety of factors:
Severity of maneuvers
The degree of air loss
The operating speed of the vehicle
Weight and loading of the vehicle
The severity of the driving conditions
Ambient temperature
The tire size and vehicle on which the tire is mounted
Operating any tire at low or no air pressure can cause internal damage to the tire. Michelin ZP and BFGoodrich brand SSS tires technology are designed with extra reinforcement to help minimize damage from running at low or no air pressure. However, depending on operating conditions, some damage may still occur. Therefore, the accurate assessment of Michelin ZP and BFGoodrich brand SSS tires after an air-loss incident is critical in determining if the tire can be repaired and/or reused or if the tire must be replaced.
The idea behind the new Uniroyal tire with NailGard is simple. When confronted by things like nails, NailGard seals most tread punctures instantly and permanently and keeps on going without needing repairs. How does it work? As a nail - or any object 3/16" or less in diameter - punctures the tire tread, it is coated with NailGard sealant. This unique material automatically seals the puncture and prevents air from escaping. When the nail is removed, the nail automatically pulls the NailGard sealant into the hole in the tread. The sealant fills the hole, preventing future air loss. While the nail remains in the tire, NailGard seals around the nail, preventing slowleaks. Uniroyal tires with NailGard help prevent flats. Instantly. Permanently.
